((Tethrol from Meeting Hall))
Breathing in deep, Tethrol couldnt help but smile wider at the sweet smells and mouth-watering aromas floating around the cafe. "I could... heh heh heh, kill for a coffee." He let out a few more snorting laughs (oh, he was on it today with the bad puns), and seated himself at a table relativly close to the counter. "Mahatt!!!" he yelled. (Huzzah for Ranger's referances.)
The kind-faced eldarly woman poked her head up from behind the counter and smiled warmly at Tethrol. "Coffee, Tethrol? And you, Kaj?"
Other assassins were starting to filter into the room as well, getting some food before their late evening activities.

((Kaj from Meeting Hall))
Kaj sat down on a chair across from Tethrol, a small table that had room on it for a few other individuals should anyone decided to join them. Not than anyone ever did. Tethrol and Kaj were often an exclusive pairing. Some people may have viewed their friendship as something sacred, not wanting to interfer in the strange, strong bond that the two opposite personalities shared. Or perhaps it was because no one wanted to get to close to Tethrol or Kaj due to the rumors about them. There was nothing special about their missions... but Tethrol had the reputation of the women, and Kaj had the reputation of the massacre.
Alienated? Not really. People within the Guild treated them no differently than they treated others. And it never bothers Kaj. He was just happy to be some place secure... if you could call the clashing realities within the Guild "secure."
"Yes, Mahat! Thank you very much," Kaj said with a wave and a nod and a smile to the kindly older woman.
OOC: YAY WE MOVED!

The eldarly woman smiled kindly and bent back below the counter, eager to help the young men. She had known Tethrol since birth, Kaj since his arrival here at the Guild. Against the Guild Leader's orders, she had sent Tethrol some warm food to provide Kaj with while he was locked up. The Guild Leader thought that to weaken the man would weaken his rage... Mahat had "tsk'ed at that and continued to send the man food until he was released.
Tethrol smiled comfortably at his friend and twisted around to sit properly in the chair. "So... you're to... 'accompany' me to see the Guild Leader about my mission... How odd. You weren't supposed to be involved in the mission before this... then again, he hadnt told me the mission in the first place. So who knows what the assignment was, or what it's been changed to."
Mahat brought over two mugs filled with coffee on a tray, cream and sugar on the side, as well as some fresh baked biscuits. They were still warm and soft from the brick oven. "Tethrol, I dont want you mixing yourself up in none of them Guild problems... you neither, Kaj. Keep yourselves nuetral and let them Guild Leaders sort this all out."
She watched and waited while Tethrol took his first sip. "Excellent as always, Mahat."

"What... are you saying two is company and three's a crowd, Tethrol?" he smirked at the comment about the mission. Some might take him as being insulted by the comment. Honestly, the fact that he was asked on the mission did not surprise him the least.
He waved a hand, not in dismissal, but in reassurance, at Mahat. It was a normal gesture of his, one that he used often, especially in the company of Tethrol. "No need to worry about that, Miss Mahat," he said, his face obviously perking at the arrival of the coffee and unexpected biscuits. "I'm here to keep Tethrol's nose out of trouble." He said this as if it were a statement of a fact rather than a tease.
And truth be told, it honestly was a fact.
He picked up one of the biscuits and the cup of coffee and place the coffee on the table. As one an odd habit of his, he dunked the biscuit into the coffee, waited until the grains were filled with liquid, and then ate the coffee soaked parts. It was a remarkablly clean was of ingesting the food, surprisingly. It was also a habit that he had since he had gotten to the Guild, at least. Weither or not he had it before then, no one can say. But it was an oddity that most had gotten used to.
"Yes," Kaj agreed to Tethrol's statement. "The food is remarkable, as always, Miss Mahat. Thank you."

Mahat nodded in satisfaction, her hands rubbing themselves clean in her apron. "Good. You boys keep outta trouble... specially you, Tethrol. We all know about your shinanigans." The woman wandered away, assisting the other assassins that had walked in.
Tetrhol's faces sorta fell into an uncomfortable grin. "My shinanigans? I really hope that she didnt find out about my night with the Guild Leader's new wom...an..." His eyes sorta widened as his mouth snapped shut.
His eyes looked around, assuring that no one heard and quickly occupied himself with a biscuit and the coffee. "Ah... good coffee, eh, Kaj?" his nervous laughter echoed only a bit... it was louder in his ears though. "Ah... you, uh, dont suppose that she found out... do ya? Kaj?"

"I'm not entirely sure that's what she meant my 'shinanagins,' Tethrol..." Kaj said, putting up his hands in a reassuring nature. He dunked his biscuit one more time and looked over in Mahat's direction. She turned around in time to make contact with Kaj, and the two of them shared a knowing smile, one that looked all to well placed on both of their faces.
"Besides, I don't Mahat is one to snitch on you." He waved to Mahat and she waved back as she moved back behind the counter. Kaj popped another mouthful of biscuit in his mouth, his coffee cup now only half full, random biscuit crumbs floating about in the liqid.

Tethrol let out a short breath, seemingly relieved. "Oh, well, I know that she's not a snitch... but its just a question of how she knew! That woman is like the mother of the Guild... eyes in the back of her head, she knows exactly whats happening in everyone's lives. Unless..."
Tethrol's eyes widened and he looked around, slightly paranoid. "unless she simply overheard it being spoken of here in the cafe... by other members..."
He took a nervous bite out of a biscuit and a sip of his coffee. "What if thats what they Guild Leader wants to talk about? What if he wants you there to take my mission while I get beaten to a pulp by him?" A slight grin hovered over his lips.

Kaj's normal smile was hidden by his cup as his took a sip of his coffee, the biscuit now completely consumed. The downward cast of his eyes and the lack of his normal smile gave him an uncharacteristic serious expression. As if this was a grave situation indeed...
"I wonder, what if it is?" he said, his voice thoughtful. He took a languid sip, the seriousness never leaving his expression. "I certainly hope the woman was worth it then..."

Tethrol's head was thrown back in laughter. He quieted himself after recieving a questioning look from Mahat. "Worth it...? Kaj, my man, if there is one thing I can credit the Guild Leader with, it's having good tastes in women. Curves like a perfected hour glass, this one. A newly designated assassin... she was perfect in every aspect."
Tethrol grinned widely, remembering his activites with the woman. Then a shudder ran down his spine. "Do you think that means I... indirectly kissed the Guild Leader...? Or... worse..." Another shudder ran down his back, and he took a sip of coffee to squelch it.
He let a moment pass, then grinned at Kaj. "Any bets on what kind of assignment we're supposed to get...?"

Kaj listened patiently as Tethrol went on to describe this woman, and cringed himself at the possibilities of the encounter. "Some people might consider that to be an honor, though," he said at mention of possible... extra interaction with the Guild Leader. "But you surprise me, Tethrol... Kissing on the first date now, are we?"
His smile had returned with the drained coffee cup. "As for the assignment... The target is probably someone older... Either heavily surrounded or heavily informed. Why else would they need two of us going in? Unless the Guild Leader grossly underestimates your abilities..."

Tethrol continued grinning. "First date? Kaj, you know me, and I dont even need it to be a 'date' to lay one on the sweetheart." He rubbed his chin, surprised to find a slight stubble growing. He made a mental note to shave the next morning. "Although... that may be one reason I get smacked as much as I do..." he laughed.
Interested in the possibilities that awaited him in the mission, Tethrol leaned forward at Kaj's ideas. A snort escaped his throat when it was proposed that the Guild Leader would underestimate him. "I think not, Kaj... he knows full well what I'm capable of... he was only about 10 classes ahead of me in school. Perhaps it is a difficult target." A grin spread across his face. "Wouldnt that be nice, though? A challenge?"

"Challenges often get people killed..." Tethrol said, a hand resting on his chin, covering his lower features. He left it simply at that.

Tethrol didnt like the sudden change in moods. He appreciated a good laugh and smile... somber moods made him uncomfortable. Despite it, he tried to smile. "Ah, but challenges can often be more fun than the simple missions... besides... if both of us are going, it cant be too bad... you know that Guild Leader assigns the members he thinks fits the missions best... to make sure there are no deaths or such."

Maybe it was because he sensed his friend's mood, or maybe it was merely because his face had never really changed, but when Kaj moved his hand back down to the table, his usual smile was still planted on his features, as if it had never faltered in the first place. Had it faltered? Had it?
"What, Tethrol?" Kaj said, a light, teasing tone at the edges of his voice. "Am I somehow shattering your confidence?" He cocked his head to the side. Had that been his intention the whole time?

Tethrol stared at his friend a moment, face blank. Gods, how he hated when Kaj did that. Did the mood swing? Or was it just Tethrol's imagination that Kaj had become so serious? "Kaj, my man... you need to stop that."
Before Kaj could ask what he was supposed to stop, Tethrol slurped up the rest of his coffee and shoved another biscuit into his mouth. "Pherhapgs pheee pwwould ffffo phii wah gphild betttegh meow."
He swallowed the buiscut and eyed Kaj.
